ORIGAMI

The Origami series refers to the democratic form of arts and crafts, which enables everyone to fold a figure from a piece of paper by following a step-by-step manual.

Cran is a typical origami figure. By applying this laconic form in her sculpture, Kadyrova renders lightness to a static concrete object. The work was installed in the middle of a flooded clay pit in a residential area of the Western Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk. Since then, the place became colloquially known as a “Swan Lake” and turned into a popular destination for the locals who spend

leisure time there, as well as a point of attraction for urban and cultural initiatives.

The sculpture was commissioned by the Porto Franko festival.

The work was made in collaboration with Denys Ruban.

The sculpture is 2 meters high, made of reinforcement and concrete.

Pokrovsk.

In the second work of the series, Kadyrova uses a more complex form but does not give up the basic principles of origami, in which a step-by-step manual helps to fold a figure from a piece of paper. The sculpture is designed as a digital 3D model and cast in concrete.

The work refers to the local traditions of garden art as the image of a deer is commonly used in parks and other landscaped areas design.

The sculpture was installed in the Leontovych Park in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. Its height is 2,5 meters (6 meters together with pedestal).
