UNTITLED

2014

The outlines of this monumental work reminds us on the map of Ukraine missing a part of its territory. The image of the pulled-down country can also refer to the breakdown of the Soviet Union and its economical collapse. The sculpture is cut out from a brick wall of the abandoned factory. One side of it kept fire traces, the other one is still lined with Soviet wallpaper.

The sculpture was created in the uneasy atmosphere of the year 2014 and reflects the worried premonitions of that time. The artist asks herself: home and its walls give the feeling of safety, but how reliable is this protection in front of the changes of History?
